The Opportunity

We are currently seeking Senior Sales Agronomists to join our teams in Medicine Hat and Foremost, Alberta. These senior-level roles require a deep understanding of the agriculture industry, strong agronomic insight, and a proven ability to build meaningful relationships with growers. As trusted advisors, you will work directly with producers, internal team members, and industry partners to help customers achieve their agronomic and business goals by providing advanced recommendations, technical expertise, and strategic guidance while supporting sales and marketing initiatives. You will play a critical role in delivering practical, value-driven solutions that improve long-term crop performance, enhance sustainability, and strengthen overall profitability, while also contributing to mentorship, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement within our agronomy team.

AgroPlus is a locally owned, independent crop input retailer proudly serving Southern Alberta with locations in Foremost, Lethbridge, Medicine Hat, and a warehouse in Coaldale. Key Responsibilities 

Grower Relationships & Customer Support

  • – Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with growers, industry representatives, and local partners.
  • – Work collaboratively with growers to understand their needs, develop individualized cropping plans, and provide ongoing in-season follow-up.
  • – Provide quick-response support by phone and email for agronomic questions, product inquiries, and troubleshooting needs.

Agronomic Expertise & Recommendations

  • – Provide practical, informed agronomic advice and determine appropriate recommendations for crop plans, product use, and farm management decisions.
  • – Offer expert guidance in crop nutrition, soil test interpretation, field scouting, diagnostics, and tailored product solutions.
  • – Utilize advanced agronomic knowledge and awareness of emerging trends to position proprietary and vended crop protection, plant nutrition, and performance products for improved outcomes and enhanced profitability.

Product & Service Delivery

  • – Assist in the coordination, delivery, and management of crop nutrition products, seed, and crop protection products to ensure timely and efficient service.
  • – Support seamless product handling and customer service to maintain strong relationships and operational excellence.

Agronomy, Sales & Communication Support

  • – Contribute to agronomy and sales initiatives, including preparing agronomy alerts, technical bulletins, crop tips, and seasonal updates.
  • – Support and participate in grower agronomy meetings, product information sessions, field demonstrations, and diagnostics.
  • – Provide input and ideas for marketing, advertising, and customer engagement tools that strengthen communication and drive business growth.

 

What You Bring

  • – A degree or diploma in Agronomy, Agriculture, or a related field; a P. Ag or CCA designation is considered a strong asset.
  • – Three to five years of progressive experience in Ag retail, agronomy, sales, precision agriculture, or another closely related area.
  • – A genuine passion for agriculture and a strong desire to help growers improve productivity, sustainability, and long-term success.
  • – Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to present information clearly and build trust with growers and team members.
  • – A high level of organization, self-direction, and motivation, paired with an exceptional work ethic and commitment to follow-through.
  • – Excellent time management, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to adapt and respond effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • – A willingness to continuously learn, stay current with evolving agronomic practices, and explore new tools, technologies, and innovations.
  • – A positive, professional, and team-focused attitude, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with industry partners.
  • – Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite and general computer applications; comfortable learning new software or digital tools.
  • – A valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driver abstract and the ability to travel throughout the assigned territory.
  • – Physical ability to lift 40 to 50 pounds and comfortably perform hands-on tasks as needed in field and yard environments.
  • – Willingness to learn and safely operate a forklift and other equipment required for product handling.
  • – Availability for daily travel, extended hours during peak seasons, and occasional overnight stays to support growers and operational needs.
